The nose that nobody picked

Based on the book ‘The Nose That Nobody Picked’ by David Parkin

Songs by David Parkin (Skinner's Lab by David Parkin and Douglas Deans)

Starring: Pete Shenton (New Art Club), Douglas Deans, Kirsty Mealing and Dave Dhonau.

The Nose that Nobody picked tells the tale of Christopher, a keen but unorthodox gardener, who finds a living nose raised by slugs in his garden. In their hunt to find Little Big Nose a face, they encounter Doctor Skinner, an eccentric plastic surgeon, who has connections to the nose’s past and sinister intentions for its future.

Expect mountains of mucus, toe tapping tunes and two nostrils full of magic.

The Nose was a reinvention of a novel for children written by David in his twenties, which he reworked and adapted for stage into a charming, witty and surprisingly moving musical. It was supported by the Arts Council and toured nationally on two occasions.

The show was wonderful experience for children and adults alike. From the physical comedy aspects of Shenton, to the Disney-esque facial expressions of Mealing, add well-crafted songs and some tasteful takes on deep subjects, all meant that I had a lovely fun filled, poignant hour.
